STAINES SAILING CLUB
Sailing on the Thames since before 1942

General Club Information

Sailing takes place on the River Thames between Staines Bridge and Penton Hook Lock.

Our premises are one mile from Staines Bridge on the left-hand side of Chertsey Lane and a mile before Thorpe Park.

The sailing season is from the end of March until the end of October, weather permitting.

The premises provide a clubhouse, riverside lawn and spaces for boats and cars. The clubhouse includes a bar, clubroom, kitchen, showers etc. No smoking is permitted inside the clubhouse.

Members may sail from the club premises at any time.

A few club dinghies are available for those who need them, or for new members' use.

The clubhouse is normally open on Sunday afternoons for racing, Saturday afternoons for fun sailing and late on Wednesday afternoons during the summer for casual sailing. Friday evenings are for socialising throughout the year.

The clubhouse may be opened at other times by arrangement with a committee member.

Social events take place throughout the year.

As the club has no paid staff, after a year, members are encouraged to carry out duties such as Officer of the Day or preparing teas on a Sunday.

New, novice members are encouraged to firstly act as crew, 'to learn the ropes' before venturing out by themselves.
